01 How it works
Three steps from curious to on the team.
We welcome students of all experience levels. Curiosity counts for more than a résumé.
- Step 01
Fill out the interest form
Two minutes. Tell us your name, your school, and what you're curious about. We'll follow up with meeting details.
- Step 02
Come to a meeting
Tuesdays and Fridays after school in East Palo Alto. Sit in, ask questions, try a few subteams. Bring a friend if you want.
- Step 03
Find where you shine
Mechanical, CAD, electrical, software, strategy, media, or business. You'll learn real skills, make friends who show up for you, and build a robot that competes.
02 What you'll do
Pick a subteam. Or three.
Every role on the team is a real job. The robot does not get built without all of them.
Engineering
Design parts in CAD, cut and assemble the frame, wire motors and sensors. Learn to use real tools safely.
Programming
Write the code that drives the robot, runs autonomous routines, and reads sensors. Test it on a practice field.
Strategy & drive
Scout other teams, plan matches, and call the shots for the drive team during competition.
Media & design
Shoot and cut video, design graphics and shirts, run the Instagram, tell the team's story.
Fundraising & business
Pitch sponsors, write grants, manage the budget and purchasing. The team runs like a startup.
Competition
Work the pit, drive the robot, and present the team to judges at regionals. In 2024 that meant Houston.
Being on the Churrobots has taught me that I can do way more than I thought I could, with a community that will always have my back.2024 team member
