Director of Development & Corporate Partnerships

Reports to: Executive Director 
Status: Full-time (flexible schedule; some evenings/weekends as needed) 
Compensation: $90,000–$140,000 annually, commensurate with experience

Position Summary
The Director of Development & Corporate Partnerships is a senior leadership role responsible for designing, leading, and executing a comprehensive fundraising and corporate engagement strategy that drives sustainable revenue growth. This position builds and manages high-impact relationships with corporate partners, foundations, individual donors, and community stakeholders while advancing the organization’s mission and long-term financial stability.

 

The ideal candidate is a strategic, relationship-driven fundraiser with a proven record of securing major gifts and sponsorships, leading multi-channel fundraising initiatives, and generating at least $1 million in cumulative revenue through corporate, foundation, and individual giving.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising & Revenue Development
• Design, lead, and execute a comprehensive Development and Corporate Partnerships strategy aligned with organizational goals
• Generate revenue by prospecting, cultivating, and securing corporate sponsorships, foundation grants, and individual donations
• Build and manage a robust donor and sponsor pipeline, ensuring consistent growth and diversification of funding sources
• Meet or exceed annual fundraising targets in partnership with executive leadership
• Secure major gifts, multi-year commitments, and strategic partnerships
• Lead individual giving initiatives, including donor societies and membership programs
• Develop and maintain relationships with C-suite executives, senior leaders, and high-net-worth individuals


Corporate & Community Partnerships
• Initiate, cultivate, and steward relationships with corporate partners across San Mateo County, the Bay Area, and the Tri-Valley region
• Develop corporate service projects, sponsorship activations, and team engagement initiatives that drive both impact and revenue
• Serve as a primary liaison between corporate sponsors, foundations, and internal program teams
• Act as an ambassador for the organization in community, corporate, and civic spaces
• Identify and pursue new partnership opportunities that expand organizational reach


Grant Writing & Reporting
• Lead and manage the development of grant proposals, concept notes, and donor reports in collaboration with senior staff
• Translate program outcomes and impact data into compelling, funder-aligned narratives
• Track grant deadlines, compliance requirements, and reporting schedules
• Maintain organized records of funding submissions and deliverables

Events, Campaigns & Engagement
• Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events, off-sites, and donor engagement activities
• Recruit, manage, and support executive volunteer leaders, committees, and event volunteers
• Lead membership and donor engagement programs, including regular stewardship activities
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver high-impact campaigns

Operations, Strategy & Performance Management
• Establish and monitor fundraising goals, performance metrics, and reporting systems
• Analyze data to evaluate fundraising effectiveness and refine strategies
• Maintain CRM systems and donor databases (Kindful, Constant Contact or similar platforms)
• Develop and optimize fundraising processes and systems that scale with organizational growth
• Serve as a strategic thought partner to leadership on revenue, partnerships, and sustainability

Communications & Collaboration
• Partner with the Communications team to develop fundraising materials, proposals, and outreach campaigns
• Draft and edit executive-level correspondence, donor communications, and sponsorship materials
• Build strong cross-functional relationships with program, finance, and operations teams
• Ensure consistent, mission-aligned messaging across all fundraising efforts

Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in fundraising, development, business development, or sales
• Demonstrated success raising at least $1 million through corporate, foundation, and individual giving
• Proven experience managing complex projects with multiple deadlines and stakeholders
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and donor management systems
• Strong ability to travel locally and occasionally overnight as required
• Ability to lift and transport materials for events when necessary


Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with C-suite executives and senior leadership
• Strong knowledge of corporate, philanthropic, and community networks
• Experience in B2B, nonprofit, education, or social impact sectors
• Familiarity with CRM platforms
• Experience supporting board relations and executive-level fundraising initiatives
